First San Francisco issue!
In mid-2011, for the first time ever, the United States Mint began producing 1-ounce American Silver Eagle bullion coins at the San Francisco Mint facility. These are the first regular issue bullion coins produced outside of the West Point Mint since the series began in 1986. They've been extremely popular since their release in summer 2011.
These San Francisco Silver Eagles are perfect in superb gem Mint State 70 condition. Certified for grade and authenticity, and sealed in a protective plastic holder by PCGS, one of the most trusted grading services in the world, these gorgeous silver gems will add value and beauty to any collection or portfolio.
The obverse depicts the memorable “Walking Liberty” design by Adolph A. Weinman, adapted from the popular U.S. quarters and half dollars. The reverse features the “Heraldic Eagle” design by John Mercanti.
Overwhelming demand
Demand for American Eagle Silver bullion coins has been at unprecedented levels for several years and has overwhelmed capacity at the West Point Mint. The San Francisco facility uses the same manufacturing process and packaging currently used for coins minted at West Point. There is no visible difference between the coins, and they do not have a mint mark. They may only be identified individually as genuine San Francisco Mint Silver Eagles by certification.
